Visited Natale's in Summit, NJ which has been a favorite stop for many years. The bakery is located near one of my largest customers over the years so have had the pleasure of enjoying many different items. Their signature dessert is the "Philly Fluff" cake, which is a round and I would describe as a type of pound cake with a very moist and light texture dusted with powdered sugar. Think it's called Philly Fluff in part because they use Philly Cream Cheese in the batter, though you don't taste cream cheese per se. It's probably the most popular thing I've brought in to my customers so always to try to stop there when passing by, just keep in mind they're closed on Mondays. They sell lots of them every day and you'll see boxes of them stacked up behind the cases for sale.
As mentioned, have sampled many items over time, some of my favorites include the Checkerboard Cake, the Large Cookies (Chinese/Chocolate Chocolate & Regular Chocolate Chip/Oatmeal Raisin/M&M), Flying Saucers (only usually available Fridays & weekends), Devil Dog & Oreo Cakes, and the cruller donuts! Their cruller varieties include plain, powdered, cinnamon sugar and glazed. They'll even make you a powdered cruller out of the plain ones if there isn't any powdered ones left, as they did for me this trip. 😋
The breads are very good as well if you wanted something besides sweets. 😉
It was extremely crowded on this visit two days before Thanksgiving!
