Stopped at a favorite today in the Allentown area, Egypt Star Bakery. This was the original location on Front Street in Allentown, which hadn't been to before. Not nearly as big as the location I've been to many times on MacArthur Road near the Mall in Whitehall. Limited selection at this location but still had a good variety of donuts and cookies, which is what I came for. 😉
Really enjoy the cruller donuts and they have multiple varieties, plain, powdered, cinnamon sugar, glazed and pumpkin (seasonal). Nice texture and crunch!
Cookies were good as well, my customers enjoyed them. Tried the chocolate chunk and double chocolate with a cup of coffee.
Prices were inexpensive, 70 cents for the donuts and 65 cents for the cookies.
The Whitehall location has a wide variety of layer cakes including an excellent one patterned after the Tastykake Peanut Butter Kandy Kake.
