Levain Bakery - New York, NY

Was in NYC this week visiting Columbia University so got a chance to stop at one of my favorites, Levain Bakery. Discovered this place many years ago on a trip with the family after seeing them on one of those "best of" food shows. They are famous for their cookies, which are huge (6 ounces!) and look like giant hockey pucks. They've perfected a method for making the cookies firm on the outside but gooey on the inside, at least if you eat them right away! (Tip from my sister - you can simulate this experience later by microwaving the cookies for ~15 seconds)

My personal favorites are the chocolate chocolate chip and chocolate peanut butter trip, my daughter prefers the original chocolate chip walnut. But it's hard to go wrong with any flavor! 😉

They have other goodies, including 3 varieties of tasty brioche pastries- plain, cinnamon and chocolate filled. Also like the sour cream coffee cake and oatmeal raisin scones. Coffee is pretty good as well.

Was recently informed they've added crispy pizzas at some locations but not at the one I usually go to in Harlem near Columbia.
