Visited Tatte Bakery & Cafe before a customer meeting in the Seaport district of Boston. Have stopped at Tatte once or twice in the past at one of their Cambridge locations but this is the first since this blog was started. Looks like they're up to 9 locations in Boston plus 3 in Cambridge so they must be doing well. Some of the locations are near one of my favorite stops in the Boston area, Flour Bakery, not sure if that's coincidental or not.
Like Flour, the cafe part offers an assortment of soups, salads and sandwiches in addition to a wide variety of baked goods, the reason for my visit of course! The baked goods includes breads and cakes plus individual treats and morning pastries.
Got a few things including a Jerusalem Bagel, which I would describe as "Montreal style". It was stretched into an elongated oval, slightly sweet (think it's boiled in honey water) and chewy with a sesame/poppy seed coating. Enjoyed it a lot, though it was a little pricey for a bagel.
Also enjoyed a Chocolate Rose which was kind of like a cross between a muffin and cinnamon roll but with a chocolate based swirl instead of cinnamon. So maybe more like an individual chocolate bobka. 😋
Finished with a couple different cookies - a Chocolate Sandwich which is similar to the homemade Oreo from Flour but had some sesame seeds on the outside of the cookie for an interesting twist. Shared this with my daughter Carly who enjoyed it as well. The other cookie was a simple butter cookie, about the size of a quarter which it what it costs! Quite tasty and good with coffee.
Will have to stop again the next time in Cambridge or the city.
