Stopped at Buttercream Bakeshop in downtown DC on the way home from my sister G's in McLean this past weekend. This cute little shop is located in the Shaw neighborhood of DC on 9th Street, an area I haven't visited before. The shop has nice variety of cookies, scones, bars and cakes along with coffee from local chain Compass Coffee, another G favorite. 😃
They had a nice little seating area and got a good recommendation from a local customer enjoying her coffee and "cinnascone" pastry. I would describe it as cross between a cinnamon bun, muffin and scone and was very good the next day after microwaving for a ~15 seconds.
Also got three cookies - chocolate chip, double chocolate and peanut butter which were all very good. The chocolate cookies each had a nice chocolate "dot" in the center and the peanut butter cookies had real chopped peanuts on top.
Although the brownies looked good, decided on the S'mores bar for my last treat as they are one of my favorites. This was excellent and comparable to the one I got at the Bartram House in Pittsburgh, check out my previous post. Great dark chocolate ganache layer along with toasted marshmallow layer on top. 😋
My last selection was a savory ham and cheddar scone, which served as my lunch for the day along with a good Americano with the aforementioned Compass Coffee!
